Academic Writing Services
What are your rates?
I charge $0.01/word for basic proofreading and $0.012/word for proofreading and copy editing. I charge $50 in the Premium package for proofreading, copy editing, detailed feedback reports, and Zoom consultations. These prices are reflected in the packages.
It says I get an optional Zoom call in the Premium package. How?
After you place an order, we will send you potential availability, and you can schedule for whichever date works best for you. Kendall Conway will later send you the Zoom link for the call! You can message us at contact@sageingrained.com before you order for current availability, though by the time you order, the slot you expected to select may be filled.
What exact projects do you work on?
Admission essays, personal essays, discipline-specific essays, scholarship essays, and any other paper below the graduate level, as Kendall is an undergraduate student.
My project is more than 1500 words; will you take it?
At this time, we unfortunately cannot accept works over the 1500-word limit, but we hope to in the future. There is a little bit of wiggle room (~150 words) over the cap; just email us at contact@sageingrained.com so we can find out if it will work together!
What format do you accept?
We can edit Word documents and Google Docs. We cannot edit .pdf files, images, or PowerPoint files.
Beta Reading Services
How do I choose a package based on my word count?
The word counts on the packages are simply limits and estimations. What you should focus on is the level of complexity you’d like your story evaluated at. The basic package will give you more surface-level (but still eye-opening) analysis, and the platinum will be incredibly thorough and detailed!
Why is proofreading not included in beta reading services?
Beta readers are traditionally meant to evaluate story elements, the opening and hook that publishers and agents focus on when considering clientele, and the overall ability of a story’s potential to be gripping and enjoyable. Proofreading is typically left for alpha readers and editors.
When should I expect you to have finished reading and making suggestions?
It fully depends on the length and complexity of your story, though we will always ensure your work/feedback is returned the by the delivery time stated in your package.
What genres do you beta read?
We only read fantasy, fiction, and romance at the moment. We hope to expand once we grow more, but we’re happy to recommend readers for other genres until then.
Do you accept more words than stated in the Platinum package?
There’s wiggle room. We will keep the price as is for a certain range depending on the story. Contact us before ordering at contact@sageingrained.com so we can talk and figure out what will work best for you!
Novel Proofreading & Editing Services
What are your rates?
We charge $0.01/word for basic proofreading, $0.012/word for proofreading and copy editing, and $0.014/word for proofreading, copy editing, and detailed feedback reports regarding characters, plot, development of any kind, etc. These prices are reflected in the packages.
What genres will you take?
At this time, we’ll take any fiction work, but I’m mainly experienced in fantasy and romance.
What’s the difference: proofreading vs copy editing vs feedback?
Proofreading: fixing typos like grammar, spelling, & format. Usually the last step before sending manuscript to agent or self-publishing. Copy editing: in-depth, regarding sentence structure, syntax, voice & tone. Feedback: developmental editing/suggestions, AKA the big picture. Plot, dialogue, etc.
My work is over 80,000 words. Will you take it?
Yes! We charge per word. You can enter your word count into any of the packages to see what the price would be. Refer to “What are your rates?” in these FAQs.
What documents do you accept?
I typically only work through Microsoft Word and Google Docs. If you would like to use another format, message me, and I can see whether or not I’d be able to work with it! 🙂
